On December 6, a ceremony was held at the “Oguz Khan” palace complex to present Turkmenistan’s jubilee medals to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, members of the Government, heads of military and law-enforcement bodies, and governors of the provinces.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the country’s Permanent Neutrality, the President received the jubilee medal “30 Years of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality” along with a set of commemorative insignia.

The relevant parliamentary decision was read by the Chairwoman of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova. The resolution highlights the President’s personal contribution to strengthening Turkmenistan’s independence and sovereignty, as well as advancing the nation’s foreign policy based on the principle “Dialogue is the guarantee of peace.”

Addressing the audience, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the congratulations, stating: “I accept the jubilee medal ‘30 Years of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality,’ awarded in the International Year of Peace and Trust, as an honor bestowed upon our entire nation.”

After the President, state awards were presented to the Speaker of Parliament, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, and regional governors.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, representing the diplomatic corps, and Defense Minister Begench Gundogdyev, speaking on behalf of the security forces, congratulated the President on receiving the high state award and on the publication of his new book titled “Neutral Turkmenistan — A Bright Path of Peace and Trust.”

President of Turkmenistan Arrives in Tokyo for Central Asia–Japan Summit

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Japan on a working visit to take part in the inaugural Central Asia–Japan Dialogue Summit, according to reports from the national news agency TDH.

The presidential aircraft landed at Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport, where the head of state was officially welcomed by representatives of the Japanese government and protocol services.

This marks President Berdimuhamedov’s second visit to Japan in 2025. Earlier in April, he attended ceremonial events dedicated to Turkmenistan’s National Day at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, where the Turkmen pavilion was among the first to open and quickly became one of the most popular exhibits.

Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan continues to expand on the basis of mutual respect and equality. Through partnerships with leading Japanese companies, including Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Itochu, and Sojitz, a number of major industrial facilities have been established in Turkmenistan. These include a plant producing environmentally friendly gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe, a polymer production complex in Kiyanly, and a urea manufacturing plant in Garabogaz.

Humanitarian ties also form an important pillar of bilateral relations. Ashgabat is home to the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University, where academic programs follow Japanese educational models. Japanese language courses are offered across Turkmenistan’s educational institutions, and Turkmen students regularly undertake internships and study programs at universities in Japan.
