Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a series of phone conversations with his foreign counterparts — Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary; Marek Eštok, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia; Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti; and Fuad Mohammed Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.
The talks reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s active diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral partnerships and promoting regional stability.
During the discussions, the ministers confirmed their mutual readiness to expand cooperation across a broad range of fields, emphasizing:

political and diplomatic dialogue,

constructive engagement within the United Nations and other international frameworks,

enhancement of trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.
Special attention was given to the upcoming International Forum of Peace and Trust, scheduled for December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat. The event marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and coincides with the International Day of Neutrality, serving as a central element of the country’s diplomatic agenda for the International Year of Peace and Trust.
Minister Meredov’s outreach to European, African, and Middle Eastern partners highlights the multi-vector foreign policy of Turkmenistan, focused on advancing principles of neutrality, peace, and sustainable development.

24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
