Celebration in Balkanabat honors success of the “Galkynyş” equestrian team
16 Feb. 09:05A festive ceremony took place in Balkanabat to mark another international achievement of the national equestrian performance group “Galkynyş.” The event gathered residents and cultural figures to celebrate the team’s accomplishments abroad.
The group recently received international certificates from the World Circus Federation and the European Circus Association during the 48th International Circus Arts Festival held in Monte Carlo, recognizing its contribution to circus arts.
The celebrations began with a ceremonial procession along Uzboy Street toward the cultural venue “Türkmeniň ak öýi.” In front of the “Bagt köşgi” wedding palace, creative ensembles presented a traditional wedding ritual performance.
Near the regional history museum, the artists were welcomed with bread and salt in accordance with national customs. The program included musical and literary compositions by the State Drama Theatre named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, as well as dance performances by the groups “Dehistan,” “Dagdan,” “Misserian,” “Bagtyýarlyk,” and “Balkan.” An exhibition organized at the entrance added a special cultural touch.
The main stage performances continued in front of “Türkmeniň ak öýi,” where the “Galkynyş” team delivered impressive demonstration acts, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Following the official program, a festive reception was arranged for participants and guests. It is worth recalling that the team previously achieved major success at the international circus festival in Monte Carlo, winning the top prize and several special awards.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
