An international conference entitled “Health and Nutrition in the Context of Climate Change” was held in Ashgabat, highlighting Turkmenistan’s active contribution to consolidating collective efforts in addressing climate-related challenges. The event brought together representatives of relevant ministries of Turkmenistan, senior officials of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as well as delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and Russia, according to reports from the “Watan” news program.

Participants emphasized that ensuring food security under changing climatic conditions is closely linked to the achievement of multiple objectives outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. Climate change is significantly affecting traditional agricultural practices and production models, making their adaptation and modernization an urgent priority.

The conference also addressed the broader implications of climate change for public health and nutrition. Speakers noted the importance of coordinated actions to combat climate-related threats while simultaneously safeguarding ecosystems and ensuring access to clean water, energy, safe air, and nutritious food. International experts shared their perspectives on effective strategies to address these interconnected challenges, underscoring Turkmenistan’s role as a platform for regional cooperation and dialogue.
