Ahal will conclude their AFC Champions League group stage campaign with a match against Al-Hussein. Turkmen football club Ahal will play their final AFC Champions League group stage match against Jordanian Al-Hussein in Amman on December 23. Ahal played three matches in the group stage and earned one point, eliminating their chances of advancing to the knockout rounds. In the first matchday of the group stage, Ahal defeated Indian side Mohun Bagan 1-0 away. However, the Asian Football Confederation later excluded the Indian club from the tournament for failing to appear for an away match against Sepahan and annulled the result of the match against the Turkmen team. In the second round, Ahal lost 4-1 to Al-Hussein at home. In the match against Iranian Sepahan, the Turkmen club put in a solid performance. Ahal lost the first match 1-0 and drew 2-2 in the second. Both matches took place in Isfahan. One of the matches was originally scheduled to take place in Arkadag, but the AFC decided to move the game to Iran.
