Competing in the highly competitive 86 kg weight category, the Turkmen athlete showcased exceptional tactical and physical performance, dominating the tournament brackets from the preliminary rounds.
In the final match, Begenjov secured a decisive, early victory over Abylaikhan Uzembayev of Kazakhstan with a flawless 10-0 score, winning by technical superiority (VSU). The bronze medals in this specific weight category went to Mor Sachin of India and Taebin Kim of the Republic of Korea. The continental championship is being held at the "Tien Son" Sports Complex in Da Nang, featuring nearly 900 wrestlers from 25 Asian nations and territories.
This victory adds another major achievement to Alp Arslan's escalating international career. Previously, he won a silver medal (79 kg) at the 2025 Asian U23 Championship in Vung Tau and a bronze medal (86 kg) at the senior Asian Championship in Bishkek earlier this year. Notably, Begenjov has permanently made sports history as the first-ever Turkmen freestyle wrestler to win a medal at a senior-level continental championship.
