In early January, a ceremonial meeting was held at the city administration of Arkadag to highlight and promote the ideological essence of Turkmenistan’s 2026 national motto, which embodies the principles of independence, permanent neutrality, and national dignity. The event focused on explaining the symbolic meaning of the year and its importance for the social and cultural development of Turkmenistan.

The gathering brought together officials of Arkadag city, leaders of Turkmenistan’s horse-breeding sector, faculty members of the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding, industry experts, respected elders of Turkmenistan, cultural figures, representatives of public organizations, media professionals, renowned musicians, and students.

Speakers emphasized the unique role of Akhal-Teke horses in the history and spiritual heritage of Turkmenistan. These world-famous horses, admired for their elegance and endurance, were described as a source of national pride and a living symbol of the Turkmen people’s strength. It was noted that the inclusion of Akhal-Teke horse breeding traditions in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List significantly enhanced the international recognition of Turkmenistan’s cultural legacy.

Participants highlighted that, under the consistent leadership and long-term vision of the state, the global prestige of Akhal-Teke horses continues to grow. The placement of an Akhal-Teke horse at the center of the State Emblem of Turkmenistan was cited as clear evidence of its exceptional national importance.

Special attention was given to Turkmenistan’s efforts to elevate traditional horse breeding to a strategic level of state policy. As an illustrative example, speakers recalled the repeated victories of the national equestrian performance group “Galkynysh” at major international festivals, including the renowned circus arts festival in Monte Carlo, Monaco, as well as the large-scale celebrations held in Arkadag city in honor of these achievements of Turkmenistan.

The participants also underlined the symbolic significance of holding the first meeting dedicated to the 2026 motto of Turkmenistan in Arkadag city, the homeland of Akhal-Teke horses and the location of the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding.

The event concluded with artistic performances showcasing the accomplishments of modern Turkmenistan, alongside an exhibition featuring fine and decorative arts, carpets, jewelry, and photographs reflecting the development of Arkadag city and the timeless beauty of Turkmenistan’s Akhal-Teke horses.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
