On December 6, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning 231 convicted citizens. The act of clemency is dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality, observed on December 12, and marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
The decision was announced during an expanded Cabinet meeting attended by heads of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.

The President emphasized that pardoning individuals who sincerely regret their actions and wish to start anew has become a longstanding humanitarian tradition in the country.
Secretary of the State Security Council Begench Gundogdyev reported on the work of the commission responsible for matters of citizenship and pardons. After reviewing the report, the President approved the decree.

The commission was instructed, together with law-enforcement authorities, to ensure the release of those pardoned and to facilitate their prompt return to their homes and families.
The President wished the pardoned citizens a life built on honest work, dedication to the Motherland, and sincere service to their country.
