The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to FAO, Ambassador T. Komekov, met with the organization's Director-General, Qu Dongyu, at the FAO headquarters in Rome. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation to modernize the agricultural sector and strengthen food security through the integration of leading international expertise.
Director-General Qu Dongyu recalled his productive visit to Ashgabat in January 2026, highly praising his meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He noted that Turkmenistan, under its current leadership, has established a solid foundation for continuous growth and is making significant strides in its sustainable development goals. The Director-General emphasized the country's active role in global efforts regarding environmental protection and the efficient use of natural resources.
The dialogue also addressed the practical steps of the Country Programming Framework for 2026–2030. Key areas of focus included climate change adaptation strategies, sustainable water resource management, and the implementation of agricultural innovations. FAO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Turkmenistan's international initiatives and enhancing the strategic partnership between the two entities.

The school district allocated $13.9 million from its overall budget to combat unexcused absences. The program maintains strict criteria: a single unexcused absence during any given school week forfeits the student's eligibility for that week's reward.
