In 2025, a total of 21,320 container shipments were carried out through the territory of Turkmenistan. Of this volume, 10,470 containers accounted for transit cargo, 6,450 for exports and 4,400 for imports. Compared to the same period of the previous year, container traffic through Turkmenistan increased by 10,200 units. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan.
The growth was driven by efforts to enhance the efficiency of key international transport routes, including Russia–Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran, Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Europe, as well as the Uzbekistan-led international multimodal corridor. As a result of coordination meetings and agreements, a total of 74 container trains passed through Turkmenistan in transit mode during the reporting period.
By leveraging Turkmenistan’s logistics potential and strategic location, container transportation is increasingly being used along the “North–South,” “Lapis Lazuli,” and “East–West” international transport corridors. This trend contributes to the expansion of transit, import and export cargo flows through Turkmenistan, reinforcing the country’s position as a major regional logistics hub.
