High-Level Five-Party Meeting on Caspian Sea Issues Takes Place in Ashgabat
16 Sep. 05:46On September 15, the 11th session of the High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea issues began at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Delegations from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia are participating.
The meeting is chaired by the Turkmen side. The main focus is on developing a methodology for defining straight baselines in the Caspian Sea. Delegates also reviewed regional cooperation, preparations for the next meeting of foreign ministers, and the creation of a special working group to address the issue of the Caspian Sea's decreasing water levels.
The agenda also includes the organization of the 7th Caspian Summit scheduled for August 2026, and a proposal to hold the first international meeting of governors of Caspian coastal regions.
