At the plenary session of the 30th Anniversary International Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2025,” Abdullah Al Shamsi, ADNOC’s Director of Business Development, delivered a keynote address. The representative of the UAE’s leading energy company emphasized Turkmenistan’s strategic importance within ADNOC’s global gas portfolio and outlined the company’s long-term plans in the country.

Al Shamsi noted the growing global demand for reliable and low-carbon energy, where natural gas plays a vital role. In this context, ADNOC is investing heavily in building an integrated gas portfolio — with Turkmenistan occupying a central position.

He highlighted Turkmenistan’s vast energy potential, world-class reserves, and its strategic geographic position linking East and West.

As a key step in strengthening its presence in Central Asia, Al Shamsi referred to the signing earlier this year of a strategic agreement on the Caspian Sea’s Block I concept, in partnership with PETRONAS, “Turkmengaz,” and “Turkmennebit.” The Block currently produces around 400 million cubic feet of natural gas per day and holds over 7 trillion cubic feet in reserves, offering strong long-term growth prospects.

To reinforce its long-term commitments, the ADNOC representative proudly announced the opening of a new XRG office in Ashgabat. According to him, this milestone reflects the company’s confidence in and dedication to Turkmenistan’s energy future.

ADNOC continues to actively explore new development opportunities to strengthen cooperation and generate additional benefits for the region. The UAE and Turkmenistan share a common vision of a sustainable and resilient energy future aligned with the global energy transition. ADNOC expressed optimism about continued joint success and future achievements.
