A Grand Fashion Show Took Place in Ashgabat

Ashgabat hosted the large-scale ASHGABAT FASHION SHOW, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality. The runway event showcased a harmonious blend of national heritage and modern fashion trends. The long-awaited show brought together admirers of beauty and style from across the Turkmen capital.

The program opened with an impressive and festive performance that set the tone for the entire show.
Young Turkmen pop star Döwran Şammyýew welcomed the audience with a captivating musical act. His performance served as a poetic introduction, immersing viewers in an atmosphere of artistry, elegance, and national inspiration.

Ten Turkmen designers and fashion houses presented collections in three main themes: children’s wear, national style, and contemporary fashion.
The evening felt magical — each look was accompanied by music that seemed specially composed for it. Ancient Turkmen patterns, interpreted through modern tailoring and paired with refined silver jewelry, gave the impression of witnessing high art.

The designers, drawing from traditions and national crafts, demonstrated that Turkmen handmade artistry is not only preserved but expanding, becoming increasingly popular among global fashion enthusiasts and younger generations. It is noteworthy that Turkmen embroidery art is included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
The section dedicated to contemporary fashion sparked particular interest with its elegant autumn-winter collection.

A real innovation came from the reinterpretation of men’s clothing: the traditional don was transformed into modern outerwear — coats, cloaks, and even hoodies — giving it a fresh and stylish identity.

This fusion of national aesthetics with modern trends forms a strong fashion movement in Turkmenistan, fully reflected in the show. The success of the event once again highlighted Ashgabat’s high status as a UNESCO Creative City of Design, a title it received in 2023.
