Turkmenistan: temperatures to rise up to +29°C this week

According to the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, warmer weather is expected across Turkmenistan throughout the week. The forecast was also published in the national newspaper “Turkmenistan.”

In Ashgabat, partly cloudy conditions are expected, with rain likely at the beginning and during the second half of the week. Winds will shift from southeast to northwest at 10–13 m/s, with gusts reaching 14–16 m/s. Nighttime temperatures in Turkmenistan will range from +3…+5 to +9…+11°C, while daytime readings will increase from +12…+14 up to +26…+28°C.

The Balkan Region of Turkmenistan will also experience variable cloudiness and rainfall early and later in the week. Wind speeds will range from 9–14 m/s, occasionally increasing to 12–17 m/s. Night temperatures will range from +2…+7 to +8…+13°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +22…+27°C, and +12…+17°C in coastal areas of Turkmenistan.

In the Ahal Region of Turkmenistan, forecasters predict similar conditions with rain at the beginning and in the latter half of the week. Winds will blow at 8–13 m/s, gusting up to 11–16 m/s. Night temperatures will range from +2…+7 to +7…+12°C, while daytime temperatures may climb from +10…+15 to +24…+29°C.

Mary, Lebap and Dashoguz regions of Turkmenistan will also see changing cloud cover, periodic rain and strengthening winds. Daytime temperatures across Turkmenistan in these regions will vary between +21 and +28°C, while nighttime readings will remain above freezing, gradually increasing as the week progresses.

Overall, Turkmenistan is expected to experience noticeable warming, with temperatures in some areas approaching +29°C.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
