On November 12, Dushanbe hosted the inauguration of the Water Diplomacy Center at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Tajikistan. The event coincides with the 25th anniversary of Emomali Rahmon’s first initiative on water resources, including the designation of 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater.

During his speech, Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin emphasized that the center, focused on scientific research and education, is a timely step towards establishing a larger project — the International Water Center in Tajikistan, with support from the UN and international partners.

The Dushanbe center holds special importance for the entire Central Asian region, where the efficient use of water resources and prevention of shortages are critical for sustainable development.

Turkmenistan, as an active participant in regional water dialogue, affirms its commitment to cooperation in this field. The country prioritizes water-saving technologies, efficient cross-border water management, and mechanisms ensuring the interests of all states. Coordinated efforts between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan highlight the collective responsibility of Central Asian countries in addressing climate challenges and securing long-term water safety.
