As part of its chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Turkmenistan intends to propose declaring 2027 the “Year of Transport Connectivity of the CIS.” This was announced by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council, Esen Aydogdyev, during a commission meeting held in Moscow.

According to the diplomat, Turkmenistan plans to use its chairmanship to advance initiatives aimed at strengthening economic, transport, and energy cooperation among CIS member states. Special emphasis will be placed on unlocking the logistics potential of the CIS as a vital connecting link between the regions of Eurasia, the Caspian basin, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Within this framework, Turkmenistan will put forward the initiative to designate 2027 as the “Year of Transport Connectivity of the CIS.” Esen Aydogdyev also stressed that the development of transport cooperation will be guided by the CIS Economic Development Strategy through 2030, which will serve as a key reference point for Turkmenistan’s proposed initiatives.
