In a strategic diplomatic reshuffle, President of Turkmenistan has issued decrees appointing new leadership to the nation's permanent mission to the UN. Aksoltan Atayewa, who served as the long-standing Permanent Representative in New York and held concurrent ambassadorial roles to Cuba, Brazil, and Venezuela, has been officially reassigned to a different post.

Taking over the high-profile role at the UN headquarters is Wepa Hajyyew. A seasoned diplomat, Hajyyew previously served as Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland and the Vatican, as well as the Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva. This transition marks a significant update in the country’s senior foreign service hierarchy, aimed at optimizing its global diplomatic operations.
