Turkmenistan and Qatar to Hold Intergovernmental Commission Meeting in Doha

At a government meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev reported on preparations for the upcoming session of the Turkmen–Qatari Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation, scheduled to take place in Doha.

The agenda of the meeting will cover a broad range of topics aimed at strengthening bilateral partnership across strategic sectors. Discussions will address cooperation in trade, investment, finance and banking, as well as collaboration in energy, transport, communications, information technology, agriculture, and environmental protection.

The two sides will additionally explore opportunities to enhance cultural and humanitarian engagement — including education, youth initiatives, sports, and tourism.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the extensive efforts underway to deepen mutually beneficial economic relations with Qatar. He approved the proposed composition of the Turkmen delegation and instructed the deputy prime minister to ensure the effective organization of the commission’s session.

Turkmenistan sharply boosts soft drink exports to Kazakhstan

From January to October 2025, mutual trade between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan amounted to 404.7 million US dollars, according to data published by the Kazakh analytical platform LSM.

During the ten-month period, Turkmenistan significantly increased its exports to the neighboring country. Export volumes rose 2.3 times to 242.5 thousand tons, while their total value reached 156.3 million dollars. The most dramatic growth was recorded in the soft drinks sector, where shipments expanded more than eightfold. Exports of sulfuric acid increased by 4.1 times, and deliveries of household detergents grew by 31%.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan’s imports of goods and services from Kazakhstan totaled 248.3 million dollars during the same period, marking a slight decrease of 0.9% year-on-year. At the same time, the physical volume of Kazakh exports to the Turkmen market increased by 29%, reaching 266 thousand tons.
