Malaysia’s PETRONAS Introduces Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Efficiency Across the Region
At the XXX International Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025,” PETRONAS Vice President Mohd Redhani bin Abdul Rahman delivered a keynote address. He outlined the company’s strategic initiatives, its plans to deepen technological cooperation, and to further strengthen its longstanding presence in Turkmenistan.
According to the Vice President, PETRONAS is actively and enthusiastically integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across all operational areas. AI-driven solutions have already become an integral part of the company’s hydrocarbon exploration and production activities, enabling drilling optimization, reservoir behavior forecasting, improved overall efficiency, and, most importantly, enhanced industrial safety.
Mohd Redhani bin Abdul Rahman also highlighted the company’s focus on future prospects in Turkmenistan, noting that PETRONAS is considering expanding cooperation with the national company “Hazarnebit” this year. He emphasized that such collaboration would not only combine PETRONAS’s extensive experience as the first offshore operator in the Caspian Sea but also enable the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies into joint projects.
“Joint efforts will strengthen resource development and reaffirm PETRONAS’s long-term commitment to the Turkmen market,” the Vice President stated. “We see the future in the synergy of experience and the implementation of advanced digital tools.”
Thus, PETRONAS aims not only to maintain its operations under the extended Production Sharing Agreement valid until 2050 but also to reinforce its strategic capabilities in the region through innovation and enhanced operational efficiency.
