Turkmenistan’s economy maintained a strong growth trajectory during the first three months of 2026, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increasing by 6.3%. This key economic indicator was presented during a government meeting chaired by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The reported growth reflects the successful implementation of the nation's comprehensive economic reforms and the effective diversification of its industrial and service sectors.
Performance across various economic sectors contributed to this overall upward trend. The transport and communications industry led the way with a significant 10.3% increase. The trade and services sectors both expanded by 8.3%, while the construction sector grew by 6%. Industrial production and agriculture each saw a 2.4% rise in output. Furthermore, total industrial output surged by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, demonstrating a robust expansion in domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Financial stability remains a cornerstone of the national economy, with the state budget revenue exceeding targets at 102.3%. Foreign trade turnover experienced a 3.7% increase, and retail trade grew by 10.4%, signaling strong domestic demand and market confidence. The government has also ensured the timely payment of all social obligations, including salaries, pensions, state benefits, and student stipends, maintaining the social welfare of the citizenry.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the economic and finance departments to continue focusing on sustainable growth and strict budget management. He emphasized the importance of efficient spending and the modernization of the banking sector to further stimulate economic activity. The head of state highlighted that maintaining the current momentum requires rigorous oversight and the continued integration of digital solutions into financial management.
