Turkmenabat Marks 250th Anniversary of the Poet Seyitnazar Seydi

A commemorative cultural event was held in Turkmenabat to honor the 250th anniversary of the birth of Seyitnazar Seydi, a renowned poet and military leader. The event took the form of a creative gathering at the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute.

The celebration brought together faculty, students, and members of the literary and artistic community. The program opened with readings by student members of the university’s literary circle "Poetic Generation," who shared their original poems, warmly received by the audience.

Scholars specializing in Seydi’s legacy then gave presentations exploring both his poetic contributions and historical significance.

Participants also viewed video footage of a recent visit by students, teachers, and writers to the monument of Seyitnazar Seydi in the city of Garabekewul, near the historic Soltannyaz-beg fortress.

The event concluded with a student-prepared literary and musical performance titled “The Era of Seyitnazar Seydi.” According to the report, the institute named after Seydi continues to conduct active academic research into his life and works.

Over 100 Mobile Shops Operate in Balkan Region for New Year Celebrations

In the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, extensive preparations are underway to celebrate the New Year. With the efforts of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Balkan Regional Consumer Societies Union, and the local branch of the Turkmenistan Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Association, all retail outlets in the region have expanded their festive offerings. Residents and visitors can find a wide variety of food, industrial goods, and gift items.

Markets are adorned with fresh produce, sparkling globes, garlands, toys, candles, Christmas trees, and other gifts that capture the festive spirit. Modern greenhouses in Gyzylarbat, Magtymguly, Bereket districts, as well as in the cities of Balkanabat and Turkmenbashi, supply fresh vegetables and greens for the shelves of mobile trade points. High-quality meat, dairy products, vegetables, and fruits are sold at affordable prices. Beautifully packaged New Year gifts attract considerable interest from buyers.

To meet public demand, the Balkan Regional Consumer Societies Union has opened more than 100 mobile trade points across all districts and cities of the region. These mobile shops will operate until January 3, 2026, according to the «Türkmenistan» newspaper.
