Source

On October 21, 2025, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the city of Arkadag to review preparations for the upcoming nationwide tree planting event.

He emphasized that this annual campaign has become a meaningful tradition that contributes to improving the country’s ecological environment. Special attention was given to selecting tree species well-suited to local soil and climate conditions — particularly those that remain green year-round and are resilient to both heat and cold.

Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City, Dovletgeldi Orazov, and Mayor of Arkadag, Gulshat Mammedova, reported on the current state of preparations. They proposed the mass planting of Turkmen juniper trees cultivated by local horticulturists.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov supported the proposal and gave guidance on ensuring proper agronomic care after planting. The Turkmen juniper is currently being grown extensively in Ahal Province.
