French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he will not run in the 2027 presidential election. At the same time, he confirmed his intention to remain in office until the end of his current term. The statement was made during his New Year address broadcast on BFMTV.

Macron emphasized that he would work to ensure that the presidential election scheduled for April 2027 is conducted in a calm, transparent manner and without any external interference. These remarks have attracted international attention, including in Turkmenistan, where political developments in major European states are closely monitored.

France has faced significant political challenges in recent years. Early parliamentary elections held in 2024 triggered a deep political crisis and resulted in frequent changes within the government. Amid this instability, various political factions called on Macron to step down.

Currently serving his second term, Emmanuel Macron is constitutionally barred from seeking re-election. His announcement has therefore clarified the political outlook ahead of 2027, a development followed with interest not only in Europe but also in Turkmenistan.
