Turkmen Universities Strengthen Their Positions in the UI GreenMetric 2025 Environmental Ranking
08 Dec. 05:59In the 2025 edition of UI GreenMetric, a global ranking system assessing universities’ environmental sustainability, two Turkmen institutions demonstrated notable advancement.
Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University rose to 306th place among 1,745 universities representing 105 countries. With a score of 7,675 points, the university entered the prestigious “Gold Category” and maintained its leadership among Turkmen participants for the third consecutive year. Over four years, the university has consistently climbed the ranking, progressing from 637th place in 2022 to its current position.
The Turkmen Agricultural Institute also achieved a remarkable improvement, moving up 73 positions to rank 653rd. Its score of 6,377.5 points placed the institution within the “Silver Category.”
The UI GreenMetric framework evaluates universities across six areas: sustainable infrastructure, energy and climate initiatives, waste management, water resource efficiency, eco-friendly transportation, and environmental education and research.

Switzerland Opens Applications for Government Excellence Scholarships for Young Turkmen Researchers
24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
