Crossword Creation Contest Announced in Turkmenistan

The editorial team of the “Biznes reklama” newspaper, in partnership with the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization and the Central Council of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, has launched a creative competition titled “Köken.” Participants are invited to design various types of puzzles, including crosswords, scanwords, and chainwords. Full details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper.

According to the guidelines, submitted puzzles must focus on themes related to the Akhal-Teke horses—considered a national treasure—as well as equestrian culture and traditional Turkmen horse expertise.

Entries will be accepted both as printed materials (with completed layouts and answers) and in digital formats such as PDF or JPG.

The competition is open to Turkmen citizens under the age of 35.

All submissions must be received by April 30.

Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
