Turkmen Film “The Tree of destiny” Wins International Recognition in Tajikistan
Turkmen director Sakhysalyh Bayramov’s drama “The Tree” received a Special Jury Award at the 2nd International "Tajik Somoni" Film Festival, held in Dushanbe from October 15 to 20, 2025.
Produced by the Oguz Han Turkmenfilm studio, the movie was featured in the competition segment at the Nawruz Cinema and was positively reviewed by film critics from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The film was praised for its powerful portrayal of Turkmen women’s loyalty and resilience during World War II. The story follows a woman named Nazik, who sends her husband to the front lines and continues to wait for his return, holding onto hope through the years. The plot is based on true memories of people who lived through the war.
This recognition also highlights Turkmenistan’s ongoing commitment to preserving family values and promoting moral integrity under the guidance of the National Leader and the President.
The festival, which coincided with Tajik Cinema Day on October 16, gathered filmmakers from over 20 countries.
Another Turkmen film, “The Composer,” directed by Maksat Gylyjov, was also screened. It was produced with the support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Charitable Foundation for Children in Need of Care and was warmly received by the international audience.
