Tokayev: Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Has Become a Key Factor for Stability and Growth in Eurasia
At the international forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the warm reception and the high level of organization of the event.
In his remarks, the Kazakh leader stated that Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality has evolved into an effective instrument for strengthening stability and promoting development across the Eurasian region. He emphasized that Turkmenistan’s strong international standing is closely linked to the contributions of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Tokayev highly commended Turkmenistan’s active peace-oriented diplomacy, including the initiative to proclaim the International Year of Peace and Trust based on a resolution of the UN General Assembly. He underlined that, amid rising global tensions, enhancing dialogue, reinforcing cooperation, and upholding international law are of particular importance.
The President of Kazakhstan reaffirmed his country’s support for Turkmenistan’s proposals aimed at expanding multilateral cooperation, including the initiative to establish a UN University of Peace and Neutrality. He also stressed the need to modernize the UN system and strengthen the role of the General Assembly.
Highlighting regional issues, Tokayev noted that Central Asian countries demonstrate an effective model of regional cooperation and attach great importance to developing transport and logistics connectivity. He also emphasized the necessity of joint efforts to ensure water security and to preserve the ecosystems of the Aral Sea and the Caspian Sea.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that the Ashgabat forum would become an important step toward strengthening international peace and trust, and wished the people of Turkmenistan continued prosperity.

Awards Presented on the Occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Permanent Neutrality
Today, with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, a ceremonial event was held to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality. As part of the celebrations, foreign nationals and respected elders of Turkmenistan were presented with the jubilee medal “30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality” along with a commemorative silver badge, according to reports from the “Watan” news program.
In line with the official decrees, the high distinction was awarded to Kim Jin Pyon, Head of the World Institute for Innovation Studies of the Republic of Korea; Kaha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy; Ahmet Çalık, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Çalık Holding Group; and Dr. Fritz Wilhelm Wolfgang Spelsberg, Head of the General and Visceral Surgery Department at the Fürstenfeldbruck Research Clinic of the Ludwig Maximilian University hospital network in Germany. The award recipients expressed their deep appreciation for the honor and conveyed sincere words of gratitude to the Hero Arkadag.
The ceremony also included the presentation of the jubilee medal and commemorative badge to members of the Council of Elders of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for the Assistance of Children in Need.
