Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Ashgabat on Thursday for an official visit, according to Turkmen media.
The Russian leader was met at Ashgabat International Airport by official representatives of Turkmenistan.
The Russian leader will participate in an international forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
The event's agenda also includes bilateral meetings with the leaders of several foreign states.
Previously, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid, and President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila Nova also arrived in Ashgabat.

The seismic events, measuring 2.4 and 2.7 on the magnitude scale, occurred in western Lithuania near the Gargždai fault zone in December 2025. Furthermore, updated analysis of international seismic data allowed experts to reclassify a previously ambiguous 2015 tremor as a natural earthquake rather than human-induced activity.
Although the low-intensity quakes caused no structural damage or casualties, they mark the first instrumentally verified natural tectonic events recorded in modern Lithuanian history.
