Member of “Galkynysh” Group Wins Top Student Title in Central Asia
11 Apr. 11:40A remarkable achievement by Turkmen youth has been celebrated in Astana. Lukmanhekim Garajayev, a student of the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev and a member of the world-renowned “Galkynysh” national equestrian games group, has earned top honors at an international competition.
He participated in the “Best Student of Central Asia” contest, a prestigious event that brought together talented young individuals from across the region. The competition aimed to recognize excellence in education, innovation, and cultural representation.
Garajayev distinguished himself not only through his academic achievements but also through his deep passion for the Akhal-Teke horses — a national symbol of Turkmen pride. His skills and discipline, developed as part of the “Galkynysh” group, impressed the international jury.
As a result of the competition, he was awarded:
— the honorary title “Best Student of Central Asia”
— a special commemorative cup
— an international badge of distinction
— a first-degree diploma
This accomplishment highlights the growing international recognition of Turkmen youth and reflects the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at nurturing talent and excellence.

24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
