On March 24, 2026, the International University for the Humanities and Development in Ashgabat officially launched the 6th Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS-2026). This significant academic event has gathered approximately 650 participants, including nearly 400 students from Turkmenistan's higher education institutions and about 250 international students. The competition serves as a vital platform for fostering intellectual growth and scientific collaboration among young mathematicians globally.

The diverse lineup of participants includes students from prestigious universities in Russia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. The Olympiad is conducted in both Turkmen and English, spanning two days of intensive problem-solving. This international setting allows participants to engage in high-level academic discourse and demonstrate their proficiency in mathematical theory and application.

The structure of the Olympiad includes both individual and team-based categories. Individual competitions are held in Categories A and B to accommodate different levels of expertise. In the team category, groups of four students compete together, regardless of their specific majors. Notably, teams can be composed of students from different universities, a rule designed to encourage international cooperation and shared learning experiences among the youth.

A unique feature of the Olympiad is the collaborative approach to its content, with participating universities submitting five problems each, along with their solutions, at least 20 days before the start. The judging panel is comprised of distinguished representatives from both the Turkmen and international academic communities. In addition to the competitive elements, the program includes cultural excursions to Ashgabat’s historical and cultural landmarks, providing international guests with a deeper understanding of the host country's heritage.
