An educational and cultural event was held at one of Ashgabat’s secondary schools with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan. Schoolchildren were introduced to the traditional Japanese art of origami through interactive workshops combined with presentations on Japan’s rich cultural heritage.

The classes were conducted by Mr. Sudo Nobuhiro, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan, together with Nurgözel Amangeldiyeva, a staff member of the embassy’s education and culture section. Students learned the fundamental techniques of paper folding and created various origami figures while gaining insight into Japanese customs and traditions.

The initiative became another example of cultural dialogue between Japan and Turkmenistan and attracted strong interest from the students. School No. 140 in Ashgabat is among the twelve schools across Turkmenistan where the Japanese language is taught.

The Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan plans to continue organizing similar activities in educational institutions throughout Turkmenistan, further strengthening bilateral cultural and educational cooperation.
