Students from Turkmenistan take part in the international STEM championship
09 Feb. 16:42Students from Turkmenistan are participating in the “Central ASIA FIRST Championship 2026”, a major STEM competition held from February 10 to 13 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The information was published on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
This event is recognized as one of the world’s largest robotics championships, bringing together more than 70,000 students from over 100 countries to compete in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines.
The championship is organized in several stages. Regional qualifiers are conducted in 30 countries, with the Central Asian round taking place in Kazakhstan. The final stage will be held in Houston, USA, where 60 teams selected from more than 400 regional contenders will compete.
Turkmenistan made its debut in this competition in 2025 and achieved notable success by receiving the “International Achievement” award, marking an important milestone for the country.
This year, Turkmenistan continues its participation in the prestigious championship. Two teams — OguzRobot (#28909) and Erjeller (#28930) — are representing Turkmenistan, aiming to demonstrate strong performance and innovative solutions on the international stage.

24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
