A major cultural event took place in Ashgabat as renowned French pianist Christine Fonlupt performed in the capital for the first time. The concert was held together with the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan and attracted strong interest from classical music lovers.
The musical evening took place on April 10 at the National Music and Drama Theatre named after Magtymguly. From the very beginning, the atmosphere in the hall reflected high anticipation, with a full audience eagerly awaiting the start of the performance.
The program featured masterpieces of French classical music. Works by Claude Debussy, Georges Bizet, Maurice Ravel, Cécile Chaminade, and Mel Bonis were performed, bringing the richness of the French musical tradition to life through piano and orchestral interpretation.
Christine Fonlupt’s performance stood out for its emotional depth and refined technique. She is regarded as one of the prominent figures of contemporary French piano artistry, and her interpretation created a deeply expressive and immersive atmosphere throughout the evening.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
