Final Stage: The Season’s Decisive Battle

The concluding stage of the Grand Prix will take place in Ashgabat on December 13–21 and will be held in an Olympic (playoff) format, increasing the excitement of the competition. Winners will not only earn prestigious titles and awards but also secure direct qualification to the 2026 Turkmenistan Higher League.

This year marks the first time the Grand Prix has been organized in the country, and it already plays a significant role in the development of chess: it allows players from all regions to participate in continuous competitive practice without leaving their provinces while enabling top players to compete across the country and support local talent. The new format reveals young promising players early and provides additional motivation for experienced ones, serving as a strong pathway to the Higher League.

On 15 December 2025, a ceremonial reception marking the National Day of the State of Qatar was held in Ashgabat. The event was hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Turkmenistan, Nasser Ahmed Mohammed Al-Taher.

The beyan.tm team was also present at the celebration.

The Guest of Honour from the Government of Turkmenistan was Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov.

In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the historical role of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, the founder of modern Qatar, and emphasized Qatar’s active role in international mediation and peacebuilding efforts.

Special attention was given to the rapid development of bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkmenistan in 2025, supported by high-level mutual visits and close ties between the leaders of the two countries.

Guests were introduced to Qatari culture through an exhibition of traditional clothing, books about Qatar, national artifacts, and falcons — a symbol of the country’s heritage. The atmosphere was enriched by traditional music, while a calligrapher artistically wrote guests’ names upon request.
