Ashgabat Hosts “Ozone and Climate” Competition Award Ceremony
On October 3, Ashgabat hosted the final stage of the “Ozone and Climate” scientific and creative competition. The initiative was organized by the “Young Naturalist” public association in partnership with UNIDO and the UNDP, and timed to coincide with the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
The main goal of the event was to boost environmental awareness among school students, encourage scientific exploration, and promote creative thinking in solving global ecological issues. Students from grades 7 to 12 representing various schools across the capital took part by submitting demonstration models and project proposals focused on ozone protection and climate change mitigation.
Winners included:
1st place: Team of students from School No. 55 – Ybrayym Hallyberdiyev, Akgul Akgaeva, Aysha Atayeva, and Stanislav Demidovsky.
2nd place: Ahmet Akhmedov and Alyhan Agamyradov from School No. 15.
3rd place: Gulnur Durdyyeva from School No. 34.
Merjen Akyeva, international relations expert at “Young Naturalist,” shared her impressions:
“The level of engagement and innovation displayed by the participants is truly inspiring. Their work shows a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.”
The winners received commemorative prizes and certificates of honor. All other participants were awarded official participation certificates.

In the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, extensive preparations are underway to celebrate the New Year. With the efforts of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Balkan Regional Consumer Societies Union, and the local branch of the Turkmenistan Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Association, all retail outlets in the region have expanded their festive offerings. Markets are adorned with fresh produce, sparkling globes, garlands, toys, candles, Christmas trees, and other gifts that capture the festive spirit. Modern greenhouses in Gyzylarbat, Magtymguly, Bereket districts, as well as in the cities of Balkanabat and Turkmenbashi, supply fresh vegetables and greens for the shelves of mobile trade points. High-quality meat, dairy products, vegetables, and fruits are sold at affordable prices. Beautifully packaged New Year gifts attract considerable interest from buyers.
To meet public demand, the Balkan Regional Consumer Societies Union has opened more than 100 mobile trade points across all districts and cities of the region. These mobile shops will operate until January 3, 2026, according to the «Türkmenistan» newspaper.
