During a recent Cabinet session, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strategic importance of expanding the country’s livestock population and further developing the animal husbandry sector, according to the state news agency.

Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahallyev presented a report covering the performance of the agricultural sector for January–September 2025, as well as updates on ongoing farming activities across the provinces.

According to the report, agricultural production grew by 12.9% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the livestock and poultry industry recorded a 2.6% increase in output.

The President stressed the need for tighter oversight of ongoing seasonal work — particularly the cotton harvest and winter wheat sowing — and instructed officials to focus on improving livestock productivity. He highlighted the importance of increasing the number of farm animals and enhancing livestock management systems to ensure food security and sustainability.

In response, the Deputy Prime Minister received specific instructions aimed at achieving these goals. Field operations in the provinces continue, with the sowing of winter wheat underway, supported by the use of agricultural machinery, seeders, and irrigation systems. At the same time, efforts are being made to expedite cotton harvesting and processing at cotton ginning facilities.
