Ankara Hosts Conference Marking Turkmenistan's Independence Day, Spotlighting Bilateral Cooperation

An international conference took place in Ankara, dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The event, held at the Presidential Library of the Turkish Republic, was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan.

The main theme of the conference centered on expanding Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in energy, trade, and economic sectors.

Participants included Turkish government officials, ambassadors, representatives of international institutions, think tank experts, scientists, journalists, students, and members of the Turkmen community in Turkey.

Attendees were introduced to Turkmenistan’s progress since gaining independence, including major development milestones and international engagements. One highlight was the upcoming International Forum scheduled for December 2025 in Ashgabat, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

Speakers praised the country’s steady development and broad reforms, noting Turkmenistan’s openness to global cooperation and emphasis on multilateral dialogue. The shared cultural and historical bonds between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples were also highlighted as a strong foundation for modern partnership.

The event also featured a photo exhibition and video presentations showcasing Turkmenistan’s journey of independent growth. Guests concluded the day by enjoying traditional Turkmen cuisine.

Informal CIS Leaders’ Meeting Opens in Saint Petersburg

An informal meeting of heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States has officially begun in Saint Petersburg. The gathering is being held in the St. George Hall of the State Hermitage Museum, one of the world’s most prominent cultural institutions. The launch of the meeting was confirmed by official representatives of the host country.

Prior to the talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin, together with CIS leaders, toured the exhibitions of the Hermitage Museum. The visit included Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Following the cultural program, the heads of state convened in the St. George Hall to begin informal discussions. Turkmenistan’s participation highlighted the country’s consistent engagement in regional dialogue and cooperation within the CIS framework.
