The city of St. Julian's in Malta served as the venue for the 72nd session of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Europe. The prestigious event brought together institutional delegations from member states, along with high-ranking executives from global organizations, to build consensus on the sustainable development of the international hospitality sector.

The Turkmen delegation at the standard-setting forum was led by the country’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany, who also functions as the Permanent Representative to the UN Tourism body. This diplomatic engagement demonstrates the state's active role in shaping modern tourism policies and fostering regional economic partnerships.

The working agenda focused heavily on analyzing contemporary macro-trends within the tourism sector and reviewing the execution of the operational roadmap for 2025–2026. Furthermore, organizational focus was directed toward the strategic planning for 2027, designated as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism, as well as mitigating the systemic challenges currently facing the global leisure industry.

As an active participant in international tourism diplomacy, Turkmenistan continues to expand its cooperative framework with the UN Tourism Secretariat to maximize its domestic hospitality potential. By leveraging its rich cultural heritage, distinct ecological landscapes, and advanced urban infrastructure, the nation is successfully implementing comprehensive reforms designed to position itself as a key destination on the global travel map.
