The Capitoline Museums in Rome are currently hosting a landmark archaeological exhibition titled "Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan." This cultural initiative reflects over three decades of collaborative excavations by Turkmen and Italian archaeologists. Originally inaugurated during an official visit by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the display offers a rare glimpse into the sophisticated societies of the Bronze Age and the Parthian era.

The exhibition features approximately 150 items, including many "first-time" loans from Turkmenistan’s national collections. Highlights include 4,000-year-old gold beads from Gonur Depe, clay sculptures of ancient rulers, and intricately carved ivory rhytons from Old Nisa. These artifacts, dating from the 3rd millennium BCE to the 1st century CE, provide a comprehensive overview of the region's historical significance. The showcase is scheduled to remain open to the public until April of this year.
