Founded in Beijing on April 6, 2010, Xiaomi has officially reached its 16th anniversary, marking its evolution into a dominant force in the global technology industry. To commemorate this milestone, founder Lei Jun shared commemorative photos highlighting the company's journey from a small software startup to a world-renowned conglomerate. Today, the brand is celebrated for its diverse ecosystem and its ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into everyday life.
The company's rapid ascent began with the MIUI operating system in 2010, followed by its first smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 1, in 2011. The device became an instant sensation, securing over 300,000 pre-orders in just 34 hours. This initial success proved the market's demand for high-quality electronics at competitive prices, a strategy that has propelled Xiaomi to the forefront of the global mobile market.
As of early 2026, Xiaomi has achieved a new milestone by becoming the world's leading company in the wearable technology market, including smartwatches and fitness bands. Beyond personal electronics, the company has successfully diversified its portfolio to include smart home appliances and even advanced electric vehicles (EVs). This expansion demonstrates Xiaomi's commitment to building a comprehensive "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi plans to invest over $8.7 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) development over the next three years. This massive capital injection is aimed at enhancing the integration of AI across its entire product lineup, ensuring that everything from smartphones to cars operates with greater intelligence and seamless connectivity. Sixteen years after its humble beginnings, Xiaomi continues to reshape the future of human interaction with technology.
