Arkadag City Enhances High-Speed Internet, Smart Home Solutions, and Electric Bus Services
03 Jul. 12:50Arkadag City, constructed upon foundational green building principles and innovative master plans, continues the systematic deployment of digital ecosystems and urban infrastructure. According to the "Program for Social-Economic Development and Investment of Turkmenistan," the gross volume of capital allocations designated for the municipality stands at 2 billion 845 million manats. This financial capital is channeled exclusively into constructing industrial and social facilities, as reported by the "Turkmenistan" newspaper.
The transit and communications matrix serves as a critical driver within the socio-economic evolution of the smart city, which is being finalized across two separate developmental phases. Throughout the current fiscal cycle, municipal authorities intend to increase the operational routes of eco-friendly electric buses and electric vehicles. By expanding this carbon-neutral public transport fleet, the city plans to elevate the total volume of automotive passenger transport to 1 million 120 thousand individuals.
The integration of a localized fiber-optic network has successfully delivered high-speed internet access, interactive IP television, and landline telephone utilities to all public offices and residential apartments. Within this cycle, the aggregate volume of registered telephone lines will reach 7,075 units, including 5,290 residential lines. Concurrently, the TMCELL cellular network will onboard 4,380 active mobile subscribers, while residents gain access to remote-controlled "smart home" applications managed entirely via smartphones.
The baseline velocity of civil engineering projects within Arkadag City will also accelerate. The developmental blueprint outlines expanding the absolute number of pre-school childcare facilities to 20 units and secondary educational schools to 11 institutions. Backed by these substantial capital injections, the city plans to execute the installation of advanced power grids alongside the construction of new passenger bus terminals and a modern railway station hub.
Currently, structural assembly is underway for more than 100 high-rise residential apartment complexes designed under premium living parameters. The engineering docket also includes dedicated seismic stations optimized for precision tectonic telemetry, the primary phase of the localized medical cluster, an artisanal carpet weaving enterprise, and the National Museum of Turkmen Carpets and Handicrafts. The ongoing execution of the Smart City concept directly reinforces national economic capacity and raises the overall quality of life for its citizens.

On-the-Go Power: Japanese Engineers Develop Wireless In-Road Charging for Electric Vehicles
10 Oct. 08:10In a major leap for electric mobility, Honda R&D, alongside Taisei Corporation and Taisei Rotec, has unveiled an innovative dynamic wireless charging system that charges electric vehicles as they drive. By embedding compact energy-transmitting modules directly into the road surface, the system transfers power via a magnetic field to receivers mounted underneath moving vehicles. Designed to withstand heavy commercial transport up to 20 tons, real-world road testing is scheduled to begin in Japan in April 2027.
The technology eliminates the need for full road reconstruction, as modules can be integrated directly into milled asphalt layers. Aimed at boosting charging power up to 150 kW in future iterations, this infrastructure solution promise to significantly reduce grid pressure on traditional charging stations, particularly for logistics and commercial fleets.
