According to the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, weather conditions across Turkmenistan from January 5 to 11 are expected to remain seasonally variable. Most regions of Turkmenistan will experience cloudy skies, with occasional precipitation in some areas.

In the Balkan region, partly cloudy conditions are forecast, with rain possible toward the end of the week. Winds will shift from east to northwest, strengthening up to 12–17 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from -3…+2 to +3…+8°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +12…+17°C, dropping to +7…+12°C in coastal zones.

In the Ahal region, variable cloud cover will persist. Winds changing from east to northwest may reach speeds of 12–17 m/s. Nighttime temperatures are expected between -4…+1 and +1…+6°C, with daytime readings rising from +5…+10 to +13…+18°C.

The Mary region will also see unsettled cloudiness. Northwestern winds turning southeast will blow at speeds of up to 11–16 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from -4…+1 to +3…+8°C, while daytime temperatures will increase from +4…+9 to +13…+18°C.

In the Lebap region, colder nights are forecast, with temperatures occasionally dropping to -8°C before warming to +3…+8°C. Daytime temperatures will fluctuate between +2…+7 and +12…+17°C.

In the Dashoguz region, rainfall is possible toward the weekend. Winds will shift from southeast to northwest, reaching 11–16 m/s. Nighttime temperatures may fall to -8°C before rising to 0…+5°C, while daytime temperatures will range from -3…+2 to +5…+10°C.

Ashgabat will experience variable cloudiness throughout the week. Winds may strengthen to 14–16 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from -3…-1 to +3…+5°C, with daytime highs between +6…+8 and +13…+15°C.

Overall, Turkmenistan can expect moderately cool and changeable winter weather conditions during the week.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
