UNFPA Hosts Chemotherapy Training on Women’s Cancer Treatment in Ashgabat

From September 16 to 18, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) office in Turkmenistan conducted a professional training in chemotherapy for female cancer treatment, aiming to strengthen the national healthcare capacity.

The workshop brought together oncogynecologists and chemotherapy specialists from Ashgabat and all velayats of the country.

Participants explored advanced treatment methods for cervical cancer, breast cancer, and other types of malignancies.

The training was led by Dr. Bruce Oliver Hoff, an American oncologist and UNFPA international consultant with over 10 years of clinical experience. He applies a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach using the latest medical technologies.

This initiative is part of UNFPA’s long-standing cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan, focused on enhancing reproductive healthcare services and building medical workforce capacity.

Water Treatment Facility Opened in Balkan Velayat

A solemn opening ceremony of a new water treatment facility with a desalination unit took place in the Esenguly etrap of Balkan velayat. The facility's design capacity is 20 thousand cubic meters of drinking water per day, reports the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan."

The facility was built on the order of the capital construction department of the Balkan velayat khyakimlik by specialists from the Economic Society "Hossarlyk." The commissioning of the facility is timed to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

The opening ceremony was attended by responsible officials from the velayat and etrap khyakimliks, honored elders of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the association "Balkanwelaýatagyzsuw."

As part of the solemn event, participants enjoyed performances by cultural and artistic figures with a concert and dance program.
