Media Exchange: Turkmen Journalists Explore Turkey’s Heritage During Ramadan Press Tour
09 Mar. 13:43A delegation of journalists from Turkmenistan recently completed a specialized press tour of Turkey, focusing on the cultural and spiritual traditions of the region. Held from March 2 to 5, the journey was initiated by the Turkish Embassy’s Cultural Council in Ashgabat. The itinerary, themed "Faith, Culture, and Gastronomy," took participants through the vibrant streets of Istanbul and the historical city of Bursa.
The visit included guided tours of landmark sites such as the Hagia Sophia and the Eyüp Sultan Mosque, offering deep insights into Islamic history. In Bursa, the former Ottoman capital, the group visited the Grand Bazaar and the Great Mosque (Ulu Cami). Beyond historical sightseeing, the tour emphasized the shared values of the Turkic world through traditional Iftar dinners. This media project aimed to foster stronger cultural ties and enhance bilateral understanding by showcasing Turkey’s rich hospitality and ancestral legacy during the holy month.


Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
