The United Arab Emirates intends to substantially boost its economic cooperation with Turkmenistan, aiming to at least double bilateral trade in the coming years. This statement was made by UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al-Hameili in an article published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan on the occasion of the Statehood Proclamation Day.

According to the ambassador, non-oil trade between the two countries reached 1.759 billion USD in 2024, marking a 75% increase compared to 2023. He noted that the UAE plans to further strengthen commercial relations and achieve even higher growth in trade volume.

Al-Hameili added that during the first nine months of 2025, the UAE ranked third among Turkmenistan’s key trading partners. He emphasized the rapidly developing cooperation in the energy sector, particularly highlighting ADNOC’s entry into the Turkmen market.

The ambassador recalled that in May 2024, a production-sharing agreement for the development of gas fields in Block No.1 of the Caspian Sea was signed between XRG (ADNOC’s investment arm), Petronas, and Turkmen state enterprises. A long-term gas supply agreement was also concluded.
