Turkmenistan to Experience Mixed Precipitation and Temperatures Dropping to –12°C
26 Jan. 12:19According to the weekly weather outlook issued by the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, unstable weather conditions are expected across Turkmenistan, including rain mixed with snow and a noticeable drop in temperatures.
In Ashgabat, Turkmenistan’s capital, variable cloud cover will prevail. Rain and wet snow are forecast at the beginning and end of the week. Winds shifting from northwestern to eastern directions may intensify, while nighttime temperatures will fluctuate around freezing, with milder conditions during the daytime.
The Balkan region of Turkmenistan will see cloudy skies and occasional precipitation. Coastal areas are expected to be cooler, and strong winds may persist throughout the week.
In the Ahal region of Turkmenistan, mixed precipitation is anticipated mainly during the early and final days of the week. Nighttime temperatures will fall below zero, while daytime readings may rise significantly.
Mary and Lebap regions of Turkmenistan are also expected to experience rain mixed with snow, accompanied by strengthening northeasterly winds. Temperature variations between night and day will remain notable.
The coldest conditions are forecast for the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan, where nighttime temperatures may drop to minus twelve degrees Celsius. Snowy precipitation and gusty winds are expected on several days.


Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
