Kazakhstan has identified international transit routes involving Turkmenistan as a promising direction for expanding regional and intercontinental transportation. The route connecting Central Asia with Iran and maritime outlets is viewed as a key element of future logistics development.

According to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan is actively engaged in major international transport initiatives, including the Belt and Road framework, the North–South corridor, and the Trans-Caspian route, also known as the Middle Corridor. Within this network, the route linking Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Iran holds significant economic and geographic potential.

Turkmenistan is regarded as a crucial bridge between Central Asia and southern sea ports, enabling access to global trade routes and strengthening supply chain resilience.

The President emphasized that the transport and logistics sector is deeply interconnected with nearly all areas of the economy. Therefore, its development goes beyond infrastructure alone and requires a comprehensive, systemic approach.

As part of this vision, Kazakhstan plans to establish modern transport and logistics hubs, upgrade ports, airports, and railway facilities, and develop an advanced digital ecosystem. These efforts are expected to enhance transit efficiency, including along corridors passing through Turkmenistan.
