Turkmenistan Proposes Establishment of a Regional Center to Combat Desertification in Central Asia
During his speech at the UN General Assembly, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow proposed the creation of a Regional Center dedicated to combating desertification in Central Asia.
He stated that such a center would strengthen regional environmental cooperation, unite the region's capabilities, and contribute meaningfully to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The center will focus on addressing climate change and protecting terrestrial ecosystems.

Turkmenistan Takes Part in Central Asia–Republic of Korea Parliamentary Leaders’ Meeting in Tashkent
The third meeting of parliamentary leaders from Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea was held in Tashkent, with Turkmenistan participating in the event. The announcement was published on the official website of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue and expanding multilateral cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea across a wide range of areas.
Plenary and thematic sessions focused on deepening cooperation in ensuring social equity, protecting the environment, addressing climate change challenges, promoting sustainable use of natural resources, and improving environmental legislation through parliamentary collaboration.
Delegates noted that previous gatherings held in Seoul in September 2023 and Ashgabat in October 2024 clearly demonstrated the effectiveness and relevance of this parliamentary cooperation format.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants adopted a Joint Declaration of the Third Meeting of Parliamentary Leaders of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, reaffirming their shared commitment to continued dialogue and partnership.
