Turkmenistan: Balkanabat hosts regional round of “My Profession Is My Pride” contest

Ahead of International Women’s Day, the Balkan region of Turkmenistan hosted the regional stage of the national competition titled “Hünärim bar – hormatym bar” (“My Profession Is My Pride”), celebrating women’s craftsmanship and professional dedication.

The event took place at the “Türkmeniň ak öýi” cultural venue in the city of Balkanabat. The competition was jointly organized by the Central Council of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan and the National Center of Trade Unions of the country.

According to official reports, the contest brought together skilled female tailors who had previously secured first place at city and district levels. Participants competed in three categories, demonstrating not only technical expertise but also a strong command of the traditional customs and cultural values of Turkmenistan.

Following the results, the winners of the regional round were announced as Oguljeren Rejepova, a teacher at Secondary School No. 3 in Balkanabat, Gulzar Bayramova from School No. 6 in the Esenguly district, and Nurjemal Tachmammedova, a teacher at Specialized School No. 19 in the Bereket district.

The winners received commemorative gifts and earned the right to represent the Balkan region of Turkmenistan at the national stage of the competition. Similar regional rounds have previously been held in other parts of Turkmenistan, including the Lebap region.

















Gavi Donates €1.3M to Fund Social Housing for Low-Income Families

FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi (Pablo Paéz Gavira) is donating approximately €1.3 million to fund the construction of 150 homes for homeless and low-income individuals. The project will take place in his hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca, located in the province of Seville.

According to Spanish media outlets, the development is designed to shelter around 300 people who face financial difficulties in purchasing or renting a home. The initiative is a purely charitable endeavor funded entirely by the footballer rather than a commercial real estate investment.
