Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev — participated via video link in the inauguration of a new joint border trade center. The news was reported by the newspaper “Turkmenistan.”

The ceremony followed high-level Turkmen–Uzbek talks held in Tashkent. Elders from Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz province and Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region, along with community representatives and local residents, attended the event.

Construction of the center began in October 2022. The project is expected to boost bilateral trade, attract investment, and foster business cooperation between entrepreneurs of both nations. The opening of the “Shavat–Dashoguz” border trade zone will further stimulate trade flows. An agreement was also reached to replicate this model in other regions, particularly around the “Alat–Farab” crossing area.

After the video ceremony, delegations from both countries visited the Turkmen and Uzbek sections of the complex to familiarize themselves with its operations and available products. During the event, vehicles were presented to the center on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
